Sunshine Coast Field Trip
The neat garden is the creation of former nursery owners Harry and Noela. is based on a steep 2000sq m block with rock paths, wide lawns and borders, plus an extensive exotic plant collection. It’s garden that shouldn’t be missed! The garden was featured on gardening Australia few years ago.
Harry and Noela will have plants for sale, but of it will be cash only. No ASA Sales. There is limited parking so if anyone wants to car share that would help. There will be someone there to help guide you with parking. There are spaces for 2 cars maybe 3 in the driveway for people with mobility issues. As this is a sloping block, please wear flat comfortable shoes. Morning tea will be available.
Aroid Society of Australia online meet up feat. Erik van Zuilekom presenting a webinar 'Growing Aroids - a deeper look at the basics'
Dear Members,
We are pleased to invite you to the Aroid Society of Australia (ASA) virtual meet up and special webinar presentation by Erik van Zuilekom.
When: Thursday 26 March from 7 to 8 pm.
Where: Online Teams Webinar
This will be a fantastic opportunity for ASA members from all States and Territories to meet together online.
Guest Speaker
Our guest speaker for the event will be Erik van Zuilekom.
Erik van Zuilekom is a Brisbane-based botanist, ecological designer, and dedicated horticulturist with decades of experience working with plants in both natural and built environments. He is the lead botanist and designer with Fytogreen Australia, where he specialises in living architecture, green walls, and the integration of plants into urban spaces to create biodiverse, resilient ecosystems. Erik is also the founder of UnitedNatures, a practice focused on regenerative landscape design and the ecological relationships between plants, soil biology, and the environments they inhabit.
With a deep understanding of plant ecology and practical cultivation, Erik approaches plant growing through the lens of natural systems—studying how plants interact with their environment and how those insights can inform better horticultural practice. In this webinar, “Growing Aroids – a deeper look at the basics,” Erik will explore the underlying principles that support successful aroid cultivation, helping growers better understand the ecological and biological foundations behind these remarkable plants.
Drawing on his deep understanding of plant ecology and cultivation, Erik will take us beyond simple growing tips to explore the underlying biological and environmental principles that influence how aroids grow and thrive. This talk will offer valuable insights for collectors and growers interested in developing a deeper understanding of aroid cultivation.
Members will need to register for the webinar on Eventbrite, and the link to the Teams webinar will be sent 24 hours prior to the event. The webinar is free for ASA Members and $5 for non-members.
