The Aroid Society of Australia is proud to present Floresta (translating to “forest” in Portugese), a plant fair celebrating the beauty of foliage, flowers, and all the people who love them.

This inaugural event was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 in Brisbane at the Belmont Shooting Complex, with Melbourne up next on October 25-26 at the historic Coburg Town Hall.

Attendees experienced specialist vendors selling an amazing variety of plants and growing accessories, as well as sales from ASA members.

Thank you for joining us in Brisbane and Melbourne in 2025! Our next Floresta in Brisbane in 2026 will be a party you don’t want to miss.

Known for being a go to for rare species and unusual anthurium hybrids Bruce is well worth being one of your first stops at Floresta! Hailing from the Sunshine Coast, a horticulturist who has worked in the local nursery industry for 40 years. Bruce has 37 years of travelling with 40 plus trips through 15 tropical countries pursuing interests in Heliconia, Gingers, Bromeliads, Aroids, and other rainforest monocots as well as an ever-expanding interest in other plant groups. In the past couple of years he was featured in the book ‘Truth, Beauty, Chaos and Plants’ by Georgina Read AKA The Planthunter, appeared on Gardening Australia talking about Tillandsias and also appeared on ABC Radio Conversations telling stories of Heliconia Travels in Panama.
